Continental Pictures Original U.S. Lobby Card Set for the Carmine Gallone directed film MICHAEL STROGOFF (1960) starring Curt Jurgens and Genevieve Page. The film is one of many theatrical adaptations of a Jules Verne novel written in 1876. Unlike most of Jules Verne's work, this is not a work of science fiction. The story involves a man who is appointed a courier to the Czar. He is sent to Irkutsk to warn the governor of a traitor, but not before meeting a woman with whom he will fall in love. Adventure and intrigue prominently figure in the story. This film was released in 1957 in Europe, but did not achieve a U.S. distribution until 1960.
