Vintage Florenza Brooch & Earrings
This brooch is truly striking! An attention grabber no doubt. I am not sure if the stones are Art Glass or Lucite, but they make a beautiful companion to the teardrop givré cabochons used throughout.
The textured antique metal, a trait of Florenza jewelry, enhances this effect.
The gorgeous colors float through the teardrop cabochons like water of blue, pink, lavender and purple. I would describe the oval art glass stones much like dragons breath, fire opal or cats eye used in so many other designer made jewelry. Sitting prominently in center stage is a huge light sapphire faceted open back foiled rhinestone.
Earlier this year I sold the bracelet and earrings to the set, it was beautiful. If you watch closely on eBay you might get lucky and find matching pieces.
Julia C. Carroll features this set in the book, "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202" (included in the photos). She describes this set as having confetti Lucite stones and teardrop-shaped rhinestones. The author explains that this is the most recognizable and beautiful of the Florenza designs. Julia continues to describe this set as having teardrop-shaped rhinestones which alternate from blue to lavender depending on the lighting.  The brooch is signed Florenza©.

**I would like to point out one thing about any paste costume jewelry that is 50 plus years old. If you have not purchased it before I advise that you check the stones from time to time to make sure they are all secure. I think it is too much to expect from any glue to hold every stone in place for 50 to 60 years. So checking to make sure that your rhinestones are secure is a good practice to get into so as not to lose one of these well preserved stones.
